International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is the high-stakes English test to assess the English language proficiency of non-native English speakers for study, migration or work in countries like Uk, Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand etc. It is jointly managed by the British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and Cambridge Assessment English and was established in 1989.

IELTS is accepted by most Australian, British, Canadian, academic institutions, by over 3,000 academic institutions in the United States, and by various professional organisations across the world. There is no minimum score required to pass the test. A Test Report or IELTS result Form is issued to all test takers with a score from "band 1" ("non-user") to "band 9" ("expert user").Each institution sets a threshold of their own.
